Salary Range: $1,216 - $1,388 per 35 hour week + superannuation


 

The Director Environment and Development Services oversees key areas of Council's operations including Planning & Regulatory Services, Water, Waste & Recycling, and Economic Development & Tourism.

The Personal Assistant (PA) provides full administrative and secretarial support at a senior level to the Director to ensure the smooth management of their day to day affairs, and most effective use of their time. This will include handling calls and correspondence, managing the Director's diary and assisting to prepare for meetings, research and report preparation and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, as well as a number of other administration support duties. The PA will handle sensitive and complex issues in a professional, courteous and objective manner.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Extensive experience in an office administration role and Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Demonstrated high level of confidential probity
  • Excellent computer skills in word processing, database packages, browsers and email programs, preferably Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and fast, accurate typing
  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, including experience in letter writing, report writing and a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service principles and practices
  • Friendly, courteous and welcoming personality with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a broad cross-section of individuals, stakeholders and organisations
  • Class C driver’s licence

Desirable Requirements

  • Diploma in Business or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Ability to solve problems by applying standards, established practices and procedures or operating instructions
  • Experience in local government
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake special projects
