Salary Range: $1,310 - $1,495 per 35 hour week + superannuation, with monthly RDO


The Facilities and Property Officer manages the day to day operational requirements of Council’s property portfolio. This involves building security and access, organising repairs and maintenance, coordinating legal tasks associated with all property including leases, and coordinating public use and maintenance of buildings. You will have responsibility for Council’s residential and commercial properties, cemeteries and Crown Lands. You will coordinate and monitor usage of Council property and facilities and undertake and coordinate various reviews and inspections. A good portion of this role is administrative and will see you providing reports, managing information databases and registers and providing input into the planning and programming for Councils property assets and Crown Lands. You will need to have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills as you will be the primary contact for customers regarding Council property issues, including complaints, and will also be sourcing and managing contractors for various services.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong administrative and time management skills and excellent communication skills. An understanding of skills and procedures relating to repairs, maintenance and minor building tasks, together with the ability to schedule works and manage contractors will be highly beneficial.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Qualifications in any of the following at Certificate III level or higher: facilities management; business administration, information management, property management and/or relevant trade qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in property management and tenancy matters in accordance with legislative requirements, with an understanding of leases and property transfer procedures
  • Practical knowledge of trades skills, including a knowledge of the procedures relating to repairs, maintenance and minor building tasks, together with a demonstrated ability to schedule works and manage contractors
  • Computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word to produce documents and reports
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to complete a broad range of tasks with a high degree of accuracy within an environment of competing demands
  • Class ‘C’ drivers licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Native Title Manager training 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Crown Lands and Crown Roads
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports
