Civil Construction Apprentice

Commencing pay: $1,044.30 per 38 hour week + superannuation, with fortnightly RDO


We are looking for recent school leavers (HSC or Year 10 plus at least two years in workforce) or mature-aged individuals interested in road work including construction and maintenance. 

This is an entry-level role designed to provide on-the-job training and formal education to develop the skills necessary for a career in civil construction. This position offers a blend of practical experience and study, allowing you to gain hands-on skills while completing a nationally recognised qualification. You will assist in road construction, maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads, laying pipes, concreting, working with drainage and more.

A NSW Driver’s licence and WHS Construction Induction Certificate (Whitecard) are essential.

We have 2 positions available in Coonabarabran and 1 in Coolah.

Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its magnificent landscape and stunning night skies. The town has medical services, excellent schools, a variety of sporting and social clubs and a thriving tourism industry. With the nearby Warrumbungle National Park, which is also Australia’s first Dark Sky Park, there is plenty to do and explore whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation. 

Coolah is situated on the picturesque Coolaburragundy River and nestled in a valley of the Liverpool Range. The town is surrounded by undulating hills and fertile river flats and is an attractive service town for the surrounding agricultural district. Only an hour south east of Coonabarabran, close to major centres of Dubbo and Mudgee, and with the nearby Coolah Tops National Park offering rugged natural beauty and adventure, Coolah delivers the best of country living.

Selection Criteria include:

  • Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) or Year 10 plus at least two years in the workforce, with a strong interest in civil construction and outdoor work.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to a structured apprenticeship program.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and measurements.
  • Good physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to perform manual labour and work in various weather conditions.
  • You must have a current NSW driver’s licence and a White Card (General Construction Induction Certificate) or be willing to obtain prior to commencement.
