Are you passionate about your local area and love connecting with people?

Warrumbungle Shire Council is seeking a friendly, motivated and community-minded individual to join our team as a Visitor Information Officer at the Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre (VIC). As the only accredited VIC in the Shire, our centre plays a crucial role in shaping the experience of visitors - from inspiring a longer stay to encouraging exploration of everything our region has to offer. This is a chance to be the face of our community and contribute to a thriving tourism sector that supports our local economy.

In this dynamic and people-focused role, you’ll assist visitors with tailored, engaging information about local attractions, events, accommodation, and activities. You'll help manage merchandise sales, provide support to volunteers, and ensure the VIC operates efficiently and professionally every day. Your local knowledge and warm communication will make all the difference—helping visitors feel welcome, informed, and excited to explore the wonders of Warrumbungle Shire.

We're looking for someone who brings strong interpersonal skills, administrative know-how, a good eye for presentation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Sound knowledge of the local area is essential, as is the ability to support the VIC’s operational needs, including retail tasks, data entry, stock control, and cash handling. A background in tourism or relevant qualifications would be an advantage, but more importantly, we’re after someone who shares our commitment to delivering outstanding service with a genuine local touch. This is a front-line customer service job-share position for one weekend per fortnight.

If you’re ready to help shape visitors' first impressions and lasting memories of the Warrumbungle region, we’d love to hear from you. Become part of a team that’s proud to promote our Shire—and contribute to its continued growth as a must-visit destination in regional NSW.
