Casual Mechanic

Job No: WASC573
Location: Coolah / Coonabarabran

Department: Technical Services

Reports to: Supervisor Workshop

Salary Range: $39 - $44 per hour (including 25% casual loading) + superannuation

Are you a qualified mechanic looking for a change and an organization that values your skills?

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanic to join our dedicated Council team. This is more than just a job it's an opportunity to try something new in a welcoming, relaxed environment while working on a wide range of vehicles and equipment that keep our town moving.

You’ll be working on everything from utes and tractors to graders, garbage trucks and beyond – if it’s got wheels (or tracks), you’ll probably get to work on it. Some days you’ll be in the workshop, other days you’ll be out on the road helping with breakdowns or on-site servicing. You'll also help plan regular maintenance and keep things ticking over safely and smoothly.

This is a casual position – we're offering variety, flexibility, lifestyle and the chance to grow your skills in a supportive and well-equipped environment. This is a great opportunity if you like a mix of hands-on work, practical problem-solving, and being part of something that helps the local community. You’ll need a mechanical trade qualification plus some experience, an HR licence, and solid mechanical know-how. If you've got skills in welding, hydraulics or fabrication – even better.

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and try something different, we’d love to hear from you!
