Salary Range: Commencing rate of $36.25 per hour + 25% casual loading. Weekend penalty rates apply on Saturdays and Sundays.
Expressions of Interest are invited from Pool Attendants who have worked for Warrumbungle Shire Council in the previous pool season and are interested in returning for the 2026/27 Pool Season. Join us for another Pool Season and help create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for our community at Council’s aquatic facilities.
The 2026/27 Pool Season is due to commence in October 2026. It is anticipated that work will be available from September 2026. Work available prior to the opening of the pools will include maintenance and preparation work to ensure pools, grounds and facilities are ready to welcome patrons when the pool opens.
Council will support refresher training for successful candidates to renew their Lifeguard Certification. Training will be scheduled subject to availability for successful applicants wishing to take up this opportunity (dates to be confirmed).

Positions are available across the Warrumbungle Shire, at pools located in Binnaway, Baradine, Coonabarabran, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran.
Selection criteria include:
- Current Royal Life Saving Society Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or equivalent) or ability to obtain prior to commencement - Council will provide this training
- Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and Provide CPR (HLTAID009) or ability to obtain prior to commencement
- Demonstrated ability to supervise patrons effectively and respond confidently in emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and behavioural issues with members of the public in a calm, respectful, and solution-focused manner.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.
- Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
- Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.
- Current paid Working with Children Check.
It is a plus if you have experience working in a public swimming pool or similar recreational facility, knowledge of pool plant operations, water chemistry, and maintenance, experience in delivering or supporting aquatic programs and a Pool Operations Certificate or willingness to obtain.
